Once Upon a Short Film

The Project: A 310-CTPR Short Film for USC, Basically a film student’s Junior Thesis Project. Must be under 5:30 min. Filmed on Sony HD XDCAM EX1. Funded entirely by students and pledges made to the students’ films.

Director/Writer: Katie Meyer, DP/Editor: Michael Stampler

The Film: “Window Shopping” (Working Title)

The Idea: I grew up on fairy tales, reading and watching magical things happen to people in faraway places always annoyed that these things never happened in my own world. So- with Window Shopping, I decided to take all of the elements I liked from fairy tales: the innocence, the magic and the moral, and plant them right here in reality.

The story deals with the idea that people always seem to want more than they have, “the grass is greener” mentality and what that does to a person’s happiness.

The Synopsis: In a busy shopping plaza, it is a long abandoned store that draws the most attention, seducing people with images of the life they wish they had.

The Question: Is what we want necessarily what we need?

When will “Window Shopping” be shot? The Second Half of Fall 2010’s semester. So, sometime in late September/early October. How can I find out more? Just ask me (Katie Meyer), the director. How can I get involved? Same. Just ask.
